R.O.C. The Race of Champions
OFFICIAL SCALE RACE RULES, 2007-2008
UPDATED AS OF
June 24,
2008
These rules are for the
SCALE RACE DAY program of the R.O.C. The Race of Champions, and are
not superseded by any other rules.
Race Directors for the
2007-2008 Racing Season will be Ralph Griffin and Joe Mazzulo,
available our email
address
1.
The
track surface will be prepared by being cleaned and lightly
spray-glued (Koford medium preferred).
2.
Recommended
track power is 13.8VDC, with at least a 150 Amp capacity.
3.
All
races will be run as mains. Individual finishing positions will be
determined by a driver’s relationship to all other drivers in the
same class, regardless of main.
4.
Qualifying
will begin for first race at 9:00AM. Tech will be closed fifteen
minutes prior.
5.
Cars
will be impounded from time of tech-in until warm-up begins.
6.
Each
driver will qualify for one minute, in an effort to complete the
most laps and sections (total distance).
7.
Qualifying
will determine lane choice (top qualifier first choice, etc.) and
placement into specific mains. Top eight qualifiers: A main; Next
eight: B main, etc. For
odd numbers, the fewer drivers will be placed in the lower mains,
which will run first. An equal number of marshals should be used in
each main.
8.
The
first main will take place following lane choice, preceded by two
minutes of warm-up for all drivers. Until the warm up begins, cars
may be placed on lanes and lane stickers added only.
9.
Concours
d’Elegance will be judged immediately prior to qualifying in each
class.
10.
Eleven
entries or less will run a single round robin main. Qualifying will
be optional. Order of sign-up will determine lane choice.
11.
All
classes will run four-minute mains.
12.
All
mains will have a one-minute lane change break between segments.
13.
Ties
within a section (including in qualifying) will be broken by actual
stopping positions, as indicated by placement of name stickers.
14.
Profanity
or abusive language will not be tolerated. Remember that we are here
to have fun racing “toy cars”!
15.
The
Race Director may modify the race format (number and length of
mains, etc.) as conditions warrant.
16.
The
Race Director will Black Flag any Car dragging on the track, or the
track owner can request an interruption in the race to tech a car
for dragging.
17.
The
Race/Tech director reserves the right to reject any car or entry
from competing. All decisions of the race director are final.
1.
In
the interest of emulating 1:1 scale competition, once qualifying
begins, repair of cars must be done only when the track power is ON.
Cars MUST remain at the track during lane change breaks,
except when the car is broken and already in a pit area.
Note: Cars removed from the track within ten seconds of a lane
change are not considered to be “already broken” (unless damage
occurs within that time period).
2.
Changing
of tires must always take place under green flag (power on)
conditions.
3.
During
lane change breaks, racers may change lane sticker, check and lube
car, change braid and pins, and adjust body.
Only manual work is permitted.
No other tools or replacement parts are allowed at the track
during lane changes.
4.
Track
calls are permitted only for braid displacement, debris in slot, un-marshal-able
cars and lap counter or other track equipment/power failure. Note:
“Un-marshal-able”
is defined by the marshal having to abandon his or her station for
more than the short time required to retrieve a nearby car which may
have left the racing surface; Multiple de-slotted cars in one area
or a car on the floor near a marshal does not warrant a track call.
5.
Riders
are a track call in Eurosport and Open-12 classes only.
6.
The
lap counter will NOT be adjusted for missed laps.
7.
If
you race, you MUST turn marshal!!!
8.
The
race director may deduct laps from, or disqualify any racer not
abiding the rules.
